HOW HAS CROSSFIT DIFFERED FROM YOUR FORMER TRAINING?
I have played sports my entire life and never really enjoyed working out, especially on my own. Throughout High school and College I was able to get through working out with my team for baseball, however once that ended I found it difficult to stick with a routine on my own.
CrossFit completely changed that giving me the opportunity to get back to working out in a group. Playing sports my whole life has also made me very competitive, CrossFit allows me to be compete and push myself in a group setting which keeps me coming back to the gym every day.
WHAT TYPE OF RESULTS HAVE YOU SEEN WITH CROSSFIT?
The results I have seen from CrossFit have been life changing, with the absence of sports CrossFit has filled a void that allows me to be Competitive, work out with friends, and stay in shape.
Since starting CrossFit two years ago I have lost 40 pounds and the change in overall strength and fitness had been dramatic.

My experience at CrossFit Hoboken has been nothing but positive, I truly enjoy coming to the gym each and every day and fill lost when I miss a workout.
A year after starting CrossFit I moved to Hoboken to be closer to work and one of the biggest concerns on my mind was finding a new Gym, with several CrossFit Gyms in Hoboken I know I chose the right one. From the coaches to the people CrossFit Hoboken has continue to help me achieve my fitness goals.

HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT CROSSFIT
It probably comes as no surprise that my sister Nicole and her husband Matt sparked my interest in joining Crossfit. Nicole and Matt had been going to the gym for a few years and I was always hearing about their workouts and the Crossfit Hoboken community. It made me want to see what the hype was about. Once I moved to Hoboken, I took a free class and knew right away that I wanted to join too.
WHAT WERE YOUR GOALS WHEN YOU STARTED CROSSFIT?
My goals were to learn the movements, get into better physical shape and to not hurt myself in the process.
HOW HAS CROSSFIT DIFFERED FROM YOUR FORMER TRAINING?
I was a cardio junkie. I loved to go on long distance runs and take spin class but I was missing the strength portion of my work outs. I also didn’t enjoy working out by myself. I was really looking for that group dynamic and community feel that would motivate me to want to go to the gym every day.
WHAT TYPE OF RESULTS HAVE YOU SEEN WITH CROSSFIT?
My body and mindset has changed drastically from when I started a year ago. I am stronger, more toned and also more open minded and confident to trying new things.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR EXPERIENCE AT CROSSFIT HOBOKEN?
My time at Crossfit has been really amazing. The coaches and athletes at the gym make working out enjoyable. Whether I’m having a really great or terrible day I look forward to going to class and putting my all into that WOD. I could never imagine going back to a normal gym after my experience here because it’s not only a gym but a community. I’ve met so many great people who I know will be lifelong friends.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH IN THE NEXT YEAR IN YOUR OWN FITNESS?
Kipping pull ups! This is something that I’ve been struggling with for a couple months but I’m determined to get this movement down. I would also like to improve my overhead squat. It’s a little unsettling to have that much weight over my head so I need to work on getting the proper technique down and trusting that I am strong enough to complete the lifts.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY OF FOOD LOOK LIKE YOUR YOU?
For the most part, I try and eat clean during the week. I can’t start my day without making myself breakfast which is typically egg whites with avocado. Lunch is usually a boring overpriced salad from Chop’t and for dinner some kind of protein and veggies. Weekends are little different because I do let myself indulge without going too crazy. I’m a foodie so I love going out to eat and eating all the things that you’re not supposed to. Chocolate ice cream is a must at least once a week!
